And so it is. Stroke and color are definite
characteristics of Carolina
Vollmer's plastic search.
Stroke, to conduct her expressive, artistic
and human needs.
Color, to accentuate the sensitive gesture which becomes a visual
manifestation of her own self.
Stroke and color fullfill the surface, trying to
reach permanent contact
with the world and its cultures, embarking in a logbook of sorts
that
writes itself as Vollmer discovers the sense within each journey,
within
each encounter.
Along with stroke and gesture, texture, crafted as
skin, merges into the
canvas, asserting what presents itself as a well reasoned composition.
It
melds as concept to embrace and become the body.
In turn, this body of matter is nurtured by small
tokens and fragments of
the artist's journey that become a varnish of sensibility, intimate
memories of herself. It is a search in which adventure and introspection
add to a great amount of strength.
This torrent of strength is displayed at its best in vertical formats,
particularly demanding and complex in terms of artistic craftmanship,
which in turn invite to take a closer, more intimate approach to
her work.
Vollmer knows how not to rush. Her work is conceived
in silence, finds
shelter in its own surroundings. Evolution is given, not demanded.
It is
always awaiting the next journey.
